Enabling local communities to organize and help each other in times of crisis.

SCADpro and Google challenged the team to solve the design prompt How might Google enable local communities to organize and help each other in times of crisis?

After 10 weeks, the team came up with a product that users can utilize directly from Google Search. It allows people to aid victims from across the globe suffering from hurricanes, tropical storms, and floods. Plus, it aims to help the users before, during, and after the crisis.

RESEARCH

To kick off our research process we began with secondary research by listing the main components surrounding the theme of crisis. From there we dived into ecosystem maps. Later on, we focused on primary research by interviewing people who haven’t or have experienced a natural disaster.

——

I worked on learning about our audience particularly in times of crisis during the secondary research phase. Also, I created research questions and helped note-taking numerous conducted interviews.

02.

ANALYSIS & SYNTHESIS

We collected the data to understand, analyze, and derive insights to come up with tangible actions. Also, we identified archetypes to build personas based on the interviews.

——

I helped with gathering observations and insights from the interviews. Next, I compiled 170 observations and 99 insights in our Rainbow Spreadsheet for me and my teammates to easily start the ideation process. Also, I helped my teammates build 2 personas out of 8 personas from our archetypes.

IDEATION & DESIGN

We transitioned from research to ideation with tools like “How Might We’s“ and “Rainbow Spreadsheet.” By narrowing the concepts we organized our design opportunities into tangible directions. From here we developed three fully-fledged concepts that we presented to our partners at Google with interactive storytelling. Based on feedback received during Midterm Presentation, we refined our primary concept by combining the strengths of our ideas.

——

I worked on the ideation, user flow, and the interactive activity of 1 of our 3 preliminary concepts. After receiving feedback from partners, 5 teammates and I focused on finalizing the concept. I helped with the user flow, designing the lo-fi, mid-fi, and hi-fi wireframes, user testing the mid-fi prototype, compiling feedback from user testing to improve the wireframes and create the final prototype. Additionally, I created the product’s logo.

CLIENT PRESENTATION

Our 10 weeks ended with a great interactive presentation of our product to SCAD’s honorable and founding members, our partners at Google, and general public. To highlight, 4 amazing team members and I were chosen to represent the team and the school by presenting our final product in Mountain View, California.

——

I helped creating visual assets for our presentation deck and became part of the small group of students that presented the project at SCAD and Google Headquarters.

Unfortunately, due to a signed NDA I am unable to share the final deliverables in the site.

If you would love to talk a bit more about the project, let’s get in touch!
